An important part of blogging is about having more content, fresh content for your blog. This is an important part of having regular content on your blog. You may feel that your content is enough, and that people are hanging onto every word that you write. Further, you are not sure about why should you let somebody else write onto your blog, what happens if the quality of writing is not good enough to match your blog, or you may feel that you have built up your blog with a lot of hard work, and why should you give that up ?
Well, all those reasons are valid to some extent, but there are several advantages of having people write on your blog. I invite readers to specify reasons if they can, but in any case, here are some reasons from my side on this subject:
1. You get to post different viewpoints. So, if you run a political or current affairs site, then other people also posting on your site may present an opinion that is different from yours. This attracts an increasing number of people to your site, many of whom can start discussions. All this is of great benefit to your site.
2. Somebody who writes on your site may also have a good chance of inviting a few more people to view what they have written, thus increasing the number of viewers.
3. A simple answer: More people means more content, this making your site more attractive to search engines, as well as other sites are more likely to link to your site.
4. You develop a circle of writers, many of whom may turn out to be good friends later
5. Somebody who writes on your site may also want to link your site to his / her own site, thus increasing the chances of you generating a higher page rank.
6. Your site may attract writers who have a much better command of the language and fluency in communication, improving the overall quality of your site.

The last post talked about granting people the rights to write on your blog when you are writing on the Blogger platform. However, if you are using a hosted WordPress installation, then the previous post did not apply. In this post, I will explain how to grant rights if you are running a blog that is based on WordPress.
I write a blog on Photo tips called 5phototips.com. I have been considering for some time as to whether to allow more people to contribute to this blog, since a lot of people have tips based on their photography experience.
So what do I need to do ? I log into the Wp-admin for this WordPress blog, and then click on the Users link. Here you can add Users and then set their role to be either that of Author or Contributor.
What is the difference between the roles of Author or Contributor ? From the Codex, http://codex.wordpress.org/, you find:
Author – Somebody who can publish and manage their own posts
Contributor – Somebody who can write and manage their posts but not publish posts
The difference being whether the person can publish their posts or not.

Suppose you have a blog on Blogger / Blogspot, and have been working steadily on it. It is the passion of your life, and you enjoy writing on it. Then you meet somebody who feels exactly the same way on the same subject, and you would also want to give that person the opportunity to write on your blog. How do you do that ?
Another case is when a group of you (people sharing a hobby / close friends / people in the same work area / any other such collection) want to write jointly. Ideally, given that Blogger is free, it makes an ideal platform for people to write a blog on their desired subject.
However, the main question is how can you add multiple authors to a Blog on Blogger ? This is actually a very easy thing to do, with the Blogger platform allowing multiple people to write on the same blog. Let us take an example, there is a blog on Books called Enjoy Books. Here, there are multiple authors. How does one do this ?
Log into your Blogger Account, go to Settings, then go to to permissions. From this place, you can Add Authors by inviting them, and if they accept the invitation, then they will be an author for the blog. And then when they log into Blogger, they can see this Blog in their list of blogs and write for this blog.
Adding an author like this does not give them them Admin rights to the blog, so they can write and modify their own content, but cannot modify other posts or change other settings. They need to be granted Admin rights explicitly.
